First, most prepaid phone cards if not all has access numbers you need to dial first (toll free or local access) then you will be ask to enter your PIN (your phone card pin). After that it will ask you to dial the number you wish to reach. Calling from the U.S. that would be 011(International code) 44 (country code in U.K.) plus the area code and the actual phone number.

Secondly, you will get charge for every minute you use it. Some phone cards have fees for different things like connection fees, monthly fees, maintenance fees and so on.

Third, I suggest you try Onesuite.com for making your long distance calls. Onesuite has very good rates for calling U.K. (2.2 cents per minute) and calling from U.K. to U.S. (9.9 cents per minute) not to mention you can also use your account for voip calling giving you more access plus a lower rate of 1.9 cents per minute on US to UK calls and 2.5 cents for UK to US calls.
