Taking a new photo of the contents of my bag is a good reason to clean it. Or vice versa.
Missing: specs case, phone (Nokia 60smthng) and camera.

freedom of choice [aka - time over toys]

i like reversals!

here’s one that could ruffle some plumage on a quiet sunday evening!

firstly, the caveat:

i am well aware, on a very personal level, that an individuals freedom of choice can be drastically curtailed by circumstances that are absolutely beyond their control.

i am also aware that there are huge numbers of people around the globe who bust their chops and work their asses off to support families on a tight or limited budget.

these are not the issues i wish to address.

onward.

you will be familiar with the [almost universal!] song:

i just have no time! i don’t even get any time to think! i have to work so many hours! we bought this big house [well tooo big really!] on a 99% mortgage that has to be paid! we bought those three cars on the drive using finance deals! we have personal debts to service from borrowing so much money! we have those maxed out storecards to pay for! we have our credit card bills to pay! i just have no time. life is so hectic i can’t think straight! i don’t get to see the children enough! i just have no time!

shut your mouth.

and stop fucking complaining.

because……….

here’s the deal [1]:

nobody put a gun to your head and forced you to get a mortgage that would cripple you financially if the interest rates shifted a quarter of a percent.

nobody put a gun to your head and forced you and your partner to shuck out three children.

nobody put a gun to your head and forced you to borrow all that money and run up that big fat personal debt you can hardly service.

nobody put a gun to your head and forced you to buy those two or more cars on finance.

nobody put a gun to your head and forced you to have a flat panel tv in every room, including the fucking kitchen.

nobody put a gun to your head and forced you to go abroad on that expensive holiday, add that to one of the loans by any chance?

nobody put a gun to your head and forced you to get that ten grand kitchen ‘makeover’ when there was fuck all wrong with the previous kitchen [except of course it was not 'now', it was so 'last season']

nobody put a gun to your head and forced you to work a 65 hour week to pay for the above!

nobody put a gun to your head and forced you to make a single one of the decisions which have since resulted in you having ‘no time’.

you.

you made those choices.

you, reading these words this very minute. you made all those decisions.

here’s the deal [2]

‘you’ have a little thing called ‘freedom of choice’. if you had excersised it in a different way, you would have plenty of time.

or was……

the peer pressure just getting too much for you?

that little demon envy getting the better of you?

greed chewing and gnawing away in your gut?

did you want to……

show your peers around that ‘oh so expensive’ new kitchen and bathroom?

park those shiny new 4 by 4′s right where the neighbours could see them?

raise a glass with ‘friends’ in that spacious credit financed conservatory?

you understand the principle of slavery?

you should.

because…..

you are a slave.

a fact.

and that big consumerist/peer pressure hook is buried so deep in your lip you think it’s just a natural part of being alive.

you probably think that you were born with it.

you talk about time, and the lack of it.

you moan, whine, whinny and squeal about your lack of time.

here’s the deal [3]

‘if you want more time make do with less.’

end of transmission.

Birthday
Calling Card

:D

I’ve had quite a good birthday so far; At least 100 students at school said/sang happy birthday to me, I got a card in my math class, I did well on a math quiz and a booklegger English presentation, got from a friend (he had it lying around in his pocket :p), got free candy from two teachers, and probably some other stuff I forgot about. I also got Lotso’s Dump Truck, 30040 Octopus, and from my favorite aunt and uncle earlier in the week, as well as having dinner at a restaurant called Red Lobster on Sunday. I’m also going to have a birthday party on Saturday! I’m also waiting for the collectible minifigs to be released so I can get all sixteen. :)

DIY Gel Holder
Calling Card

Call me snobbish, but I didn’t want to stick vecro tabs to my flashes, and blu-tak just wasn’t up to the job. After a bit of searching around, I present…

"My solution to putting gels on a flash"

1) These are the fellas you need, velcro ties and some velcro stick-on tape

2) Velcro ties – essentially just double sided velcro, through the loop at the end is pretty useful (if a bit tricky – this stuff sticks to itself no problem)

3) Wrap a velcro tie around the head of your flash – my advice would be "soft side down", as this gives a bit more puchase and is unlikely to slip

4) Use the velco tape to attach pieces to your gels – if you’ve gone "soft side down" in number 3), then you need to use the soft tape here

5) Attach the tabs of velcro tape to the tie on the head, likewise the one at the top

6) Finished article – the whole thing can be pushed back a bit to ensure a snug fit

I’ve done the same thing using squares of black card to control the light at the sides – two of the ties is better for this, and it gives more control

Hope you like it…

Inside Richtree at BCE Place
Calling Card

Formerly called Le Marché, this restaurant is different in that you go walking around the restaurant picking food and drink items of your choice while the people behind the counters prepare the food for you. Once you order, you give them your Richtree card and they swipe the price on it. In a way, it’s sort of like carrying your own tab within a restaurant.

When finished, you simply take your card to the cashier and pay the balance on it.

Question by thenaii a: if i use a calling card on my prepaid plan will my minutes get used?
im new in chicago and im getting a prepaid tmobile plan i wanted to know if my minutes get used if i used a calling card to call international

Best answer:

Answer by Garan W
Yes. Your minutes will be used. Unless you are calling during a time you have unlimited. Also, make sure that after you have called the number on the phone card and then dial the number you actually want to call you do not hit the “call” button again. Or this will start another call, at the international rate.

Letters to Ellie
Calling Card

I just received this letter from Colleen, that has purchased some of my work in the past, as well as some tshirts for her girls. If anyone reading this, has a moment, please pray for her and send her a card… It would mean a lot to her. Thank you! Jelene

My little girl Ellie was diagnosed with a brain tumor in April of this year. She is just 5. She has done so very well after having gone through 2 surgeries and a month stay at MCV hospital in Richmond. We opted to go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN for treatment after surgery. Ellie’s tumor was malignant and rather rare and St. Jude is the place that has the best recovery outlook for her type of cancer. We have completed the radiation part of our treatment and we have just started on our chemotherapy. Ellie will have 4 rounds of high dose chemo ending each round with a stem cell transplant. We have just finished round one. This has been the hardest part of our journey so far but Ellie continues to do well. She is so incredibly amazing and has been selected by St. Jude to be a spokeskid of sorts for them. She has filmed two commercials that will air this November-January. One is with Marlo Thomas and the other with Jennifer Aniston. Anyhoo- We know how creative you are and we just LOVE all your stuff and I would be so excited if you could do two things for us. First, if you could pray on Ellie’s behalf for her to have a full recovery and no side effects from the chemotherapy that would be the best thing ever. Secondly, if you have any spare time in your week, would you consider sending Ellie a homemade card. She loves tickles the goldfish and I think she would think it’s so cool to get a card similar to the paintings we have in our attic. Ellie has a card campaign called the Friends of Ellie and she loves to get cards in the mail from all over. It really makes her day so I would love it if you could do this for her. I know how busy you are with all your commissions so I can totally understand if you are too busy. Ellie has a website with all her updates and I would love to share that with you so you could follow her story. www.caringbridge.org/visit/ellie1

I know you also are networked in with so many other artistic and crafty people so if you could spread the word perhaps she will receive a lot of creative cards in the mail.

Ellie’s address is:
Ellie Bouchard
1811 Poplar Ave
Target House 1- Room 404
Memphis, TN 38104

Below is the photo of Ellie and Emma wearing your T-shirts. Thank you again for any support you can offer her. We have always been big fans of Jelene.
