I have a old phone and I can’t get a 2 yr. contract and upgrade so if I get a phone from amazon.com that is unlocked and put my sim card in it will it work?

No. Unlocked phones are for use on GSM networks. The term “unlocked” means that the user can insert any SIM card into the phone and it will work on the network the SIM card is tied to.

Sprint/Nextel phones use a CDMA network. CDMA phones to not use SIM cards and are tied to one specific carrier.

They will most likely send it to you through mail,

I know that email is much more convenient, but amazon only likes to send receipts and “requests for feedback” emails, I have never heard of anyone receiving pre paid codes through email from amazon, only coupon codes and such.

That is a bad idea. Your best bet is a calling card that you buy in Germany at one of the internet cafes and calling shops run by immigrants. Calling from one of the phones you can find in these internet cafes is also the cheapest way to call abroad.

Will the number show up as a local number on their phone in which they cannot call back?

if is made from their phone their num will show…if from public phone no num will show
