Going to Australia.. Can I use a calling card with my AT&T cell phone plan to keep in touch back home?

Well, I’m going to Aus soon.. I have and AT&T wireless plan. Nothing fancy. But the idiots that come up with add-ons decided that they didn’t want to have International Roaming that doesn’t pay per minute. So I was wondering if I can buy an international calling card that I could use with my cell phone in Australia to talk to my friends and family back home. Thanks for your help!
